Stranger Things is (almost) back.
On Halloween eve, Netflix gave patient fans of the blockbuster series the first proper look at what will serve as its closing chapter.
“At long last, we can begin,” a familiarly harrowing voice can be heard saying in the just-released new trailer, available in full up top.
From there, Finn Wolfhard’s Mike is seen lamenting the lockdown Hawkins finds itself under while wondering if there is “no end in sight.” The gang is swiftly united behind a shared goal of finding and killing Vecna, thus setting the stage for a final battle that’s all but guaranteed to result in at least one beloved character’s demise.
The final season of the Duffer Brothers-created series will be released in three parts, starting with Vol. 1 on Nov. 26. From there, we’ll be given the second volume on Christmas Day, followed by the finale on New Year’s Eve.
For the finale, Stranger Things fans will have the chance to see it as Matt and Ross Duffer intended, i.e., in a theater. As announced earlier this month, over 350 theaters in the U.S. and Canada will be showing the final episode on Dec. 31.
“We’re beyond excited that fans will have the chance to experience the final episode of Stranger Things in theaters — it’s something we’ve dreamed about for years, and we’re so grateful to Ted, Bela, and everyone at Netflix for making it happen,” the two brothers and filmmaking duo said in a recent statement. “Getting to see it on the big screen, with incredible sound, picture, and a room full of fans, feels like the perfect — dare we say bitchin’ — way to celebrate the end of this adventure.”
Confirmed cast for the final bow also includes Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley), Priah Ferguson (Erica Sinclair), and more.
By the time Stranger Things kicks off its three-pronged rollout for its final season, roughly three and a half years will have passed since we last saw Eleven and company.
Ahead of the series’ end, the Duffers were confirmed to have inked a four-year deal with Paramount that’s set to go into effect when their Netflix deal ends next April.
