Disney+ Drops New Trailer for 'Star Wars: The Bad Batch' Animated Series

The series counts Dave Filoni of 'Mandalorian' fame among its team of exec producers. Brad Rau, known for 'Rebels' and 'Resistance,' is supervising director.

Competing with the new trailer for Chris Rock’s Saw franchise-extender Spiral today is none other than Star Wars: The Bad Batch, a new animated series set to debut soon on Disney+.

The show centers on the troopers of Clone Force 99, previously seen in The Clone Wars, as they make their way in a quickly evolving galaxy amid the aftermath of the Clone War. Each member of the Bad Batch, i.e. a squad of clones who genetically vary from their Clone Army brethren—boasts a special skill which gives them a unique presence in the galaxy as a veritable assortment of top-tier soldiers.

Bad Batch is exec-produced by Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian), Athena Portillo (The Clone Wars), Brad Rau (Star Wars Rebels), and Jennifer Corbett (NCIS). Carrie Beck (The Mandalorian) serves as co-executive producer, while Josh Rimes of Star Wars Resistance is aboard as producer. Rau, whose previous credits also include Star Wars Resistance, is the supervising director. The head writer title goes to Corbett, who also previously worked on Resistance.

Up top, catch the new Bad Batch trailer. The series premieres on Disney+ on May 4 with a 70-minute episode. From there, new episodes will drop each Friday starting May 7.

The latest tease of the ever-expanding Star Wars universe arrives the day after the unveiling of the cast for Disney+’s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi show, which is set to launch production next month. Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen will return for the post-Revenge of the Sith limited series, as will Bonnie Piesse, who was most recently seen in last year’s NXIVM cult documentary The Vow on HBO.
