Watch the New ‘Scream VI’ Teaser Trailer

The teaser trailer for the latest film in the recently revived 'Scream' franchise arrives less than a year after the unveiling of the well-received fifth entry.

Ghostface got into the holiday spirit on Wednesday by gifting the world with a new teaser trailer for the next entry in the Scream franchise.

The first look at Scream VI, miraculously, arrives not even a year after the release of the series-reviving Scream directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The filmmaking duo is again at the helm for the sequel, casting news for which has dominated horror headlines in recent months.

Returning franchise regular Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) revealed she had wrapped her part of the production back in August, fittingly making the announcement in a Scream-inspired skit shared to Instagram.

“Just finished Scream, back from Montreal, and I’m so happy to have my work behind me,” Cox told fans at the time. From there, as seen below, a Ghostface-outfitted killer was spotted on Cox’s security cameras roaming the property.

Sadly, Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott) will not be returning for the sixth Scream outing. In a statement released in June, Campbell said the decision to step away from the film was a “very difficult” one.

“As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream,” she told Deadline at the time. “I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”

The list of actors (in addition to Cox) who remain aboard the sequel include Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Hayden Panettiere. The latter, of course, last took the Scream plunge as Kirby Reed (aside from a quick cameo in the fifth film) with 2011’s Scream 4.

The New York-focused Scream VI is set to slice and dice its way into theaters on March 10. Up top, catch the newly released teaser trailer. As is made clear, fans can expect the filmmakers to make good use of their change-up in locale.

“In a city of millions, no one hears you scream,” the sequel’s tagline warns.
