PlaqueBoyMax believes “making it” as a streamer is “harder than how mentally taxing a 9-to-5 is.”
In a new interview with Justin Laboy for Respectfully, Max, recently ranked by Complex as one of the 25 best streamers right now, was asked to name which he thinks is “harder,” either streaming or a traditional 9-to-5.
“Different ways, they each have their own ‘harder,’” Max responded. “It’s harder to make it in streaming, 100 percent.”
Max then conceded that the current job market “is crazy,” but ultimately returned to his central argument.
“Streaming is very hard,” he said. “There’s millions of people that are currently trying to stream. 9-to-5 is mentally taxing on some, like, ‘Damn, I might not wanna do this today. I don’t like my co-worker.’ Shit like that. But, n***a, go try and be a fucking streamer, n***a. Try and blow up. … Trying to make it in streaming is harder. I think making it in streaming is harder than how mentally taxing a 9-to-5 is.”
Unfortunately, Max’s answer here doesn’t actually address the original question; instead, it centers on the argument that making it as a streamer is more difficult than the mental toll of the 9-to-5 system. The question was actually simpler and more generalized than that, with Laboy asking, “What do you think is harder, streaming or 9-to-5?”
As anyone who’s ever worked a 9-to-5 will tell you, there is a unique, always-there hum of existential dread beneath the experience, particularly for those working such jobs while also trying to get a bigger dream off the ground.
