Pete Davidson has released a statement on the swath of online and in-person harassment he's received in recent months. The 25-year-old, whose Instagram post follows previous comments of support from Scooter Braun, thanked those who have been "holding me down" and sent a message of resilience to his more extreme detractors.

"I've kept my mouth shut," Davidson wrote Monday. "Never mentioned any names, never said a word about anyone or anything. I'm trying to understand how when something happens to a guy the whole entire world just trashes him without any facts or frame of reference." Davidson added that this was especially surprising given "today's climate," ultimately signing off with that aforementioned message of resilience. "No matter how hard the internet or anyone tries to make me kill myself, I won't."

At the end of last month, Braun—who manages Ariana Grande—came to Davidson's defense and urged her fans to cut "the bullshit" out. "No one has hate for this guy and he is a stand-up guy," Braun said in an Instagram comment at the time. "Show respect because trust me everyone on this side knows he deserves it and wishes him well."

In her new video for the recently surprise-released "thank u, next" single, Grande included an apology to Davidson during one of the Mean Girls homage scenes. "Sry I dipped," Grande wrote atop a photo with her ex-fiancé.
