Have you ever heard of this thing going around called nostalgia? At any rate, it exists with teflon-like success in many forms, including the impending Netflix arrival of the Rocko's Modern Life special Static Cling.

Tuesday, Netflix infused some joy into the Twitter timeline with a glimpse at the long-awaited continuation of the Nickelodeon classic, noting that it hits the streaming platform Aug. 9.

As you'll recall, Nickelodeon previously teased the project—described as a "movie"—way back in July of 2017. Revisit that:

The delightful citizens of O-Town—namely Rocko, Heffer, Filburt, and Spunky—originally brought Ren & Stimpy-esque levels of multigenerational appeal to the Nick brand in the mid-90s by way of a four-season run.

In a retrospective Vanity Fair piece circa November 2018, creator Joe Murray looked back on the show's behind-the-scenes "contained chaos." Speaking on the events leading up to the show's premiere, including his then-wife Diane's 1992 death by suicide two months before production kickoff, Murray said he spent a long time linking that tragedy with the show's success.

"I kind of blamed Rocko for it," Murray said. "Even though it was a suicide. In retrospect, I don't think that—but at the time I thought, maybe if I hadn't done Rocko she wouldn't have done that. And there were times I would think, if this happened because of that then, well, Rocko better kick ass."
