This week will likely be a rough one for all the homophobes and general bigots with a penchant for modern Nickelodeon cartoons. The Loud House is introducing the network's first same-sex married couple Wednesday, Varietyreports. An excerpt from the episode, which introduces the parents of character Clyde McBride, hit Twitter over the weekend:
The Loud House, which premiered on Nickelodeon in May, centers on a young boy named Lincoln Loud and his 10 siblings. Lincoln's best friend, Clyde McBride, provides Lincoln with some comedic balance thanks to his status as an only child. Nickelodeon confirmed the authenticity of the tweeted excerpt to Variety Monday, which features interracial, same-sex couple Harold (Wayne Brady) and Howard (Michael McDonald) McBride. Sorry, homophobes and/or racists. You'll have to find other stuff to hate for no reason.
News of Nickelodeon's historic move was met with an overwhelmingly positive response, with fans of the series and prospective viewers alike praising the (long overdue) milestone:
