Ludwig Göransson added another Oscar to his roster on Sunday (March 15), once again proving he’s an undeniable force to be reckoned with among modern composers.

At the 98th Academy Awards, Göransson, also known for his collaborative work with Donald Glover under the Childish Gambino moniker, took home Best Original Score for Ryan Coogler’s Sinners.

As readers will note, this isn’t the first time he’s emerged victorious at the Oscars with a Coogler film. In 2019, he won in the same category for his Black Panther score. Then, in 2023, he took home Best Original Song for “Lift Me Up,” a track from Black Panther’s sequel, Wakanda Forever. He also previously bagged a Best Original Score trophy for his work on Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.

This wasn’t the only Sinners victory on Sunday night. See here for the full list of this year’s winners.

Music plays a central role in Coogler’s film, which stands in rare air as the type of film that has amassed both massive box office receipts and widespread critical acclaim.

Fans, understandably, were quick to celebrate Göransson for his latest Academy win. Below, see a sampling of that praise, then keep it locked to Complex for continued updates on the 2026 Oscars ceremony hosted by returning MC Conan O’Brien.
