Weddings, it should be said, can be decidedly trite affairs. There are some noteworthy exceptions, however, and a recent Lord of the Rings-themed one in New Zealand crashed by none other than Frodo Baggins himself is one such case.
As seen in an irresistibly wholesome video shared to TikTok on Tuesday (Oct. 28) by the team behind the Hobbiton Movie Set experience, actor Elijah Wood surprised a J.R.R. Tolkien-loving couple smack dab in the middle of their ceremony at the site. For those unfamiliar, the Hobbiton Movie Set regularly welcomes visitors to The Shire, i.e., where the LOTR and Hobbit films were filmed and where Frodo and company enjoyed a coze-forward lifestyle.
Wood’s arrival was met with multiple shouts of “Oh my God!” before the actor jogged over to the couple for a few quick photos, all while setting-appropriate music was heard playing in the background.
“This is amazing, and everyone’s dressed as hobbits,” Wood said to the couple, who thanked him for carving out the time for their wedding.
In a more humorous moment, someone in the crowd can be heard shouting out “He’s smaller than I thought!”
Then, just as quickly as he arrived, Wood vacated the premises. On TikTok, a commenter’s inquiry as to why the Yellowjackets and The Monkey actor happened to be in the area at the time was met with some fittingly Frodo-celebrating replies.
On the topic of unconventional wedding destinations, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tuck in a mention of the couple who recently took the proverbial plunge at ComplexCon 2025. Naturally, an Elvis impersonator was on hand for the Las Vegas union, at one point serenading the couple and onlookers with a bit of “All Shook Up.”
