Lin-Manuel Miranda has been given the keys to one of the most sought-after fantasy franchises in the game. The Tony-winning Hamilton creator and star will serve as creative producer and "musical mastermind" for a cross-platform adaptation of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Lionsgate announced Tuesday. Miranda also inked in an option giving him the ability to have a say in future stage productions of Patrick Rothfuss' story of a musically skilled adventurer named Kvothe.

"Pat Rothfuss' Kingkiller books are among the most read and re-read in our home," Miranda said in a statement Tuesday. "It's a world you want to spend lifetimes in, as his many fans will attest. Pat also writes about the act of MAKING music more beautifully than any novelist I've ever read. I can't wait to play a part in bringing this world to life onscreen."

Lionsgate will develop the feature film Kingkiller Chronicle trilogy adaptation while simultaneously putting together a "premium quality drama series" that will expand Rothfuss' universe. The first film will be written by Lindsey Beer (Transformers) and based on The Name of the Wind, while the untitled TV series will see both Miranda and Rothfuss introducing brand new characters and storylines.

You can currently peep Miranda slaying the box office with frequent box office slayer Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in Disney's Moana. The animated Clements and Musker collab dominated the Thanksgiving theater rush, with Forbesreporting Tuesday that Disney now stands to shatter rival Universal's $6.89 billion box office record by the end of the year.
