Kit Harington Opens Up About Jon Snow’s State of Mind After ‘Game of Thrones’ Amid Spin-Off Hype

Kit Harington has opened up about Jon Snow’s state of mind heading out of the main Game of Thrones storyline amid building hype for the character’s expected spinoff series.

Notably, HBO, at the time of this writing at least, hasn’t yet rolled out a formal announcement of the potential sequel series, although George R.R. Martin earlier this year revealed it was currently operating under the working title Snow. Also worth pointing out here is that Harington’s widely reported comments from this weekend’s Thrones-focused convention do not actually include any direct references to the project, nor did the topic appear to have been brought up at all during the festivities.

Still, Harington has seemingly given fans more to ponder when it comes to what we may or may not see from Snow in the continuation, specifically when it comes to how he’s coping with a number of personally traumatic developments from the main Thrones story.

The comments in question come in starting around the 49-minute mark in the video below, with Harington responding to a fan’s question about whether he felt his character had been “cheated” at the end of Thrones.

“I think if you asked him, he would have felt he got off lightly,” Harington told the audience. “You know, at the end of the show when we find him in that cell, he’s preparing to be beheaded and he wants to be. He’s done. Like, the fact he goes to the Wall is the greatest gift to him and also the greatest curse.”

From there, Harington detailed Snow’s crowded mind and pointed to his likely fate, providing what could be some insight into where things pick up in the continuation.

“He’s gonna go back up to the place with all this history and live out his life thinking about how he killed Dany, and live out his life thinking about Ygritte dying in his arms, and live out his life thinking about how he hung Olly, and live out his life thinking about all this trauma,” he said on Sunday. “And that, that’s interesting. So I think that when we leave him at the end of the show, there’s always this feeling of, like, I think we wanted some kind of little smile that things are okay. He’s not okay, he’s not okay.”
