According to the scholarly literary journal Us Weekly, Kanye and Kim Kardashian West might have undergone an IVF gender-selection process earlier this year to ensure their forthcoming second child was a boy. During such a procedure, the fertilized embryos of the chosen sex are isolated before being transferred to the uterus. In short, science is a beautiful thing. Us Weekly cites a predictably unnamed source as saying that Kanye "loves Nori more than anything," but that he wanted "a little boy, an heir."

Kim's second pregnancy was announced in May during a teaser following the mid-season finale of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, with the previously rumored gender confirmed by Kim via Twitter on Father's Day:

One could argue that Kim and Kanye might very well inspire a spike in pregnancy statistics, as the proven innovators of taste have a certain way of steering culture. Are families cool again? Should I have a baby? Where is SWISH?

More to come, including — but not limited to — a possible retraction from the academic resource Us Weekly.

UPDATE:

Kim Kardashian has denounced such claims, according to Today. "[This rumor] came from a tabloid," Kim told a reporter in Cannes. "I'm grateful just to be pregnant and we would be happy with a boy or a girl." Additionally, Kim expressed her desire to possibly have a third child with husband Kanye West.
