Jonathan Majors Sentenced After Misdemeanor Assault Conviction, Avoids Jail Time

Jonathan Majors was sentenced on Monday following last December’s split verdict conviction of third-degree assault and second-degree harassment.

Per a report from the New York Times, the Creed III and Magazine Dreams actor will now be required to complete a 52-week domestic violence program. At Monday’s sentencing, those in the court room also heard a statement from Grace Jabbari, the woman who accused Majors of abuse.

Majors did not speak at the hearing, Deadline added in a separate report. The program, described as an “in-person batterers” program, will take place in the Los Angeles area. Jail time is still possible should Majors not complete the program or adhere to probation conditions.

In December, Majors was found guilty of the two aforementioned charges while also being acquitted of two others, second-degree aggravated harassment and third-degree intentional assault.

"It is clear that the jury did not believe Grace Jabbari’s story of what happened in the SUV because they found that Mr. Majors did not intentionally cause any injuries to her,” Majors' attorney, Priya Chaudhry, said at the time. “We are grateful for that. We are disappointed, however, that despite not believing Ms. Jabbari, the jury nevertheless found that Mr. Majors was somehow reckless while she was attacking him."

After the split verdict, Majors was dropped from several projects, including the tentatively titled 48 Hours in Vegas, which focuses on the infamous Dennis Rodman mini-vacation previously chronicled in The Last Dance.

In March, Jabbari filed a civil lawsuit against Majors alleging assault and defamation. News of the suit came roughly two months after the actor discussed the New York verdict in an ABC News interview, saying he was "absolutely shocked."
