It is with great sadness that we must report the absence of Adam Sandler from this year’s incarnation of Forbes’ annual list of the most overpaid actors in Hollywood. As fate would have it, Johnny Depp has officially dethroned Sandler as the most overpaid actor through a combination of box office failures and a Sandler-pleasing technicality. Sandler’s recent Netflix deal, which has already warranted society-destroying hot garbage like The Ridiculous 6, rendered him unqualified to land a three-peat after easily nabbing the top spot in 2013 and 2014.

Though Depp’s turn in the Whitey BulgerbiopicBlack Mass warranted generally positive reviews and a hefty box office return, the would-be comeback film was released outside Forbes’ consideration period. This, of course, means Depp could very well fall off this list in 2016 if he manages to land a few more hits. Sandler, reigning champ of overpaidness, will likely remain absent from the list for several years to come given the seemingly implausible length of his Netflix deal.

Peep the full list, obviously via Forbes, below:

Rest easy, Sandler. You had a good run at the top, and by "good" I of course mean egregious.
