Thankfully, rumors of Aquaman having successfully transitioned from a decades-long victim of incessant fish jokes to a full-blown comic book badass have now been confirmed as fact by current Aquaman Jason Momoa. The Game of Thrones alumnus offered some brief though revelatory observations on the future of DC's foremost aquatic hero during an appearance at Fan Expo Canada over the weekend, revealing he's definitely aware of the jokes but feels his performance should revitalize Aquaman's image:
"It’s cute and funny," Momoa tells the audience. "People make fun of him. There’s a bunch of jokes about him, but I’m like, 'Just wait. Let’s just wait a little bit, and then you can make jokes.'" For further proof of Aquaman's impending reinvention, Momoa pointed to the complexities of his current body of work. "I like bringing a lot of different colors to a character. Maybe you’ve seen me in Bullet to the Head? I didn’t just play a bad guy in that. I didn’t play [Khal] Drogo as a bad guy. I like to put many different colors and flavors in it."
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, featuring absolutely zero fish jokes, arrives on March 25 of next year.
