Jackass co-creator and star Johnny Knoxville has an emotional response to not being able to “mess around with bulls anymore” in a recent interview.

Speaking with Alex Morris for the Rolling Stone Interview podcast, Knoxville, who recently announced the franchise’s return to theaters, was asked if there is a single stunt he wants to do that he fears won’t happen moving forward. Knoxville had a visibly emotional reaction to the question, at first declining to get specific.

“I don’t wanna get emotional,” he said. “I can’t. Uh, goddamn. I hate when this happens.”

This led to a question about the “last time” Knoxville cried, prompting him to estimate that this happens “all the time” as of late.

“I can’t mess around with bulls anymore,” he then said, agreeing with the interviewer’s assessment that this makes him emotional.

“Yeah, it’s terrible,” he added.

The conversation then turned to the numerous concussions Knoxville, 54, has endured throughout his life, as well as a reflection on a prior bull-involved stunt featured in 2022’s Jackass Forever.

“He may like magic, I don’t know, [but] he didn’t like my magic,” Knoxville said of his scene partner.

In the same RS interview, Knoxville confirmed speculation that the latest Jackass film, set to hit theaters in June, will indeed be the crew’s true final bow. The fifth entry in the film franchise, notably, is expected to feature both old and new footage.

“Well a wang dang and hot damn doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang,” Knoxville told fans back in January when announcing a June 26 release date for the new film. “We wanted to let you know that this summer Jackass is back! We will see you in theaters. … More to come but wanted you to hear it from us first!”
