KIMT reporter Adam Sallet was reporting live from outside the recently robbed Sterling State Bank in Minnesota when, as only live television could allow, the suspect apparently returned for his second hit in two days. "I have to go," Sallet says almost immediately after his broadcast begins. "I have to call 911."
"That's the robber!" a bank employee can be heard saying in the video, pointing to someone off camera. "That's him right there." The suspect was later arrested at gunpoint "without incident," according to the Post Bulletin. His robbery method, authorities say, was quite simple: slip the teller a note. "He showed a teller a note demanding money and indicating he was armed," Police Capt. John Sherwin tells reporters, "then left with an undisclosed amount of cash."
"Sterling State Bank is thankful that none of our employees were harmed during the robberies that took place at our North Rochester office," a Sterling spokesperson said in a statement to KAAL-TV. "We are also grateful for the fast, professional response from law enforcement in arresting a suspect in these robberies. It is our sincere hope that this individual will not be able to cause any further harm."
2015, it seems, really is the year of woefully misguided attempts at robbery.
