'Hurry Up Tomorrow' Trailer: The Weeknd, Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan Lead New Thriller

The film is set for a theatrical release this May and follows The Weeknd’s acclaimed new album of the same name.

Hurry Up Tomorrow, a new psychological thriller that just so happens to share a title with what may very well go down as the best album of 2025, now has a trailer.

Tuesday, Lionsgate rolled out the first proper look at the film, which sees Abel Tesfaye, a.k.a. (soon-to-be f.k.a.?) The Weeknd, leading a cast that also boasts Golden Globe nominee Jenna Ortega and Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan.

The trailer gives us a glimpse at the sinister forces enveloping our central character, a musician played by Tesfaye who’s at one point passionately told by Keoghan, seemingly playing either a ruthless manager or general hanger-on type, that he’s “fucking invincible.” Ortega, meanwhile, apologizes to Abel’s character as he comes to the realization that he's been tied up in bed.

“I’m not trying to hurt you,” she says.

Later, Abel’s character poses a question that’s befitting of the dizzying pace of the two-minute trailer itself: “What the fuck is going on?”

Hurry Up Tomorrow, directed by Waves and It Comes at Night filmmaker Trey Edward Shults, is only in theaters May 16. Earlier this week, Lionsgate shared some first-look images of the film. See those below.

Abel, who’s also credited as a co-writer and co-producer of the film, previously co-created and starred in The Idol for HBO. In 2019, he played a version of himself in the Safdie brothers’ Adam Sandler-led Uncut Gems.

At this past weekend’s Grammys ceremony, The Weeknd made a surprise appearance, complete with an introduction from Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. acknowledging the four-time winner’s past criticisms of the awards show.

“As we've seen tonight, music is a powerful force for good in the world,” Mason Jr. said during his speech at Sunday’s ceremony in Los Angeles. “It heals us. It unites us. And we need that in this city right now.”
