Ernie Hudson is preaching the benefits of maintaining balance and seeing the bigger picture when it comes to his lifelong fitness journey.

Indeed, in a recent video with P90X creator Tony Horton, the 78-year-old Ghostbusters and The Crow actor spoke at length about his decades-long career while tucking in several key bits of insight into his approach to wellness. Per Hudson, wise words from his grandmother serve as the foundation of how he views fitness.

"I just assume that it’s there, and I just try to make sure I don’t work against it," Hudson said in the Page Six-boosted clip. "So I don’t spend a lot of time worrying about that. I just make sure that when I need to do something, I’m able to do it."

Put another way, Hudson added, he’s always "a little bit in the prepared state" so that he can answer any call that may come his way.

Elsewhere, Hudson expressed a personal love for physicality, training, and the mere process of working out. The Michigan-born actor also highlighted the potential pitfalls of drugs and alcohol when it comes to maintaining one’s fitness over a lifetime, noting that true "focus" is only possible when not struggling in those areas. Toward the end of the video, Hudson directly addressed those who may feel "discouraged" at his age, opting to counteract such negativity with a reminder that all not steps toward one’s fitness goal need to be massive ones.

"You can slowly turn things around," he said, adding that the goal should be to simply "do a little bit better than yesterday."

Hudson was most recently seen in this year's Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire alongside fellow original franchise stars Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd. The film, a sequel to 2021's Afterlife, topped the U.S. box office upon its March release and has since made more than $201 million worldwide.
