In a concerted effort to ensure that reality starts to closely resemble some sort of post-everything dystopian nightmare of vapid nothingness, Donald Trump recently endorsed the idea of forcingAmerican Muslims to carry special identification cards and exist within some sort of database for tracking purposes. The idea, of course, sounds strikingly familiar because it is more than a bit reminiscent of Hitler’s Nazi Germany policies.
Thankfully, people quickly started asking Trump to please outline the difference between this so-called Muslim database and the policies of Nazi Germany. His response, according to Daily Kos, was decidedly, well, not great:
"I would certainly implement that," Trump told MSNBC while in Iowa, referring to a Nazi-esque database system. "Absolutely. There should be a lot of systems, beyond databases. We should have a lot of systems." Thankfully, others were quick to outright denounce Trump's proposal by pointing to its obvious lack of humanity and apparent disregard for history:
