Dave Franco Says Young Han Solo Movie Is "Struggling" to Cast Its Lead

Franco isn't really sweating it.

The search for the new (i.e. younger) Han Solo is well underway, meaning several actors have been tasked with sweating bullets about their presumably nerve-wracking auditions. For rumored short-listerDave Franco, however, the audition process was a remarkably laid-back experience until fans got wind of the possibilities.

"It's like most other auditions," Franco toldMTV News during a recent CinemaCon discussion. "I went in one time for [casting director] Jeanne McCarthy, who I've auditioned for a million times before, and we just had a really fun time together in the room." According to Franco, all hell broke loose when word started to trickle out that he (and several others) had auditioned for the part: "Everyone's coming up and being like, 'Dude, what’s going on?' And I'm like 'I don't know. You know as much as me!'"

As for those inevitable Harrison Ford comparisons, Franco insists that imitation is probably not the way to go. "I think that's the reason it's so hard to cast this role too," Franco theorized. "It's like, do they want someone to perfectly embody who Harrison Ford is, or do they want to go a completely different route?" Franco also noted that, in his opinion, Disney is currently "struggling" with how best to honor Ford's portrayal while pushing the story forward.

Though Franco may not be keen on putting forth his best Harrison impression (not to mention the fact that the latest alleged short list no longer includes his name), he's still set to presumably revive his critically acclaimed Robert De Niro impression for next month's Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. Re-peep the trailer below, but try to imagine it's the first trailer for the young Han Solo movie (with a noticeable lack of Solo) instead:
