Dave Chappelle helped raise more than $100,000 for comedians who are taking a financial hit due to COVID-19.

The effort was the result of the famous Comedy Store venue, which hosted a live three-part podcast benefit that featured Chappelle and other titans of comedy and collected money from generous viewers by way of the Comedy Store Family Fund. PerEntertainment Weekly, Chappelle is currently following social distancing guidelines from his home in Ohio.

Chappelle was the surprise guest for the benefit's final segment, which was hosted by Neal Brennan and also saw appearances by Donnell Rawlings, Bill Burr, and more. Previous segments feared Whitney Cummings, Bobby Lee, and Chris D'Elia.

Stream the Chappelle-featuring portion below. He pops up around two hours and 45 minutes in.

The novel coronavirus has inspired many artists to step up with inventive fundraising campaigns. Last week, for example, Post Malone grabbed Travis Barker for a livestreamed Nirvana tribute set that ultimately helped raise millions for the United Nations Foundation's Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund for The World Health Organization.

Per Malone's team, the raised money will go toward helping to ensure "patients get the care they need, frontline workers get essential supplies, and accelerate efforts to develop vaccines, tests, and treatments."
