Charlize Theron is joking about the inherent difficulties of parenthood, laughing in a recent interview about her kids simultaneously having the propensity to be "assholes" but also "really nice."

Speaking with Francesca Amiker for an E! News interview over the weekend, the Oscar-winning actress and recent dance studio founder said that her two children, 11-year-old Jackson and nine-year-old August, are both "so embarrassed" by her. Per Theron, there’s currently "a lot of girl" in the family home.

"I'm just trying to keep my head above water, because they are smart and they are witty and they are firecrackers, but they do not go, 'Oh my god, Mom, you're so amazing,'" the Old Guard star and producer said. "They’re like, 'Excuse me, I need. I want.'"

Elaborating further, Theron brought in that aforeteased joke.

"They’re assholes, but they’re really nice," she said, adding that "other parents know what I’m talking about."

The charity event in question, formally titled the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project 2024 Block Party, took place at the Universal Studios Backlot in Universal City this past Saturday. Twisters stars Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones were among those on hand for the proceedings, as was Grammy winner Lainey Wilson, whose "Out of Oklahoma" is a key element of the film's soundtrack.

"All of the funds you helped us raise will go so far in keeping young people safe and healthy in southern Africa," Theron said in a special thank you message on Monday.

Later this month, Theron will join Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour, among others, for a pre-Olympics kickoff event at Foundation Louis Vuitton in Paris. Head here for more info.
