As anyone else currently re-bingingBreaking Bad over Thanksgiving weekend can surely attest, the iconic Shakespearean meth opera has more than its fair share of downright unsettling moments. However, for Bryan Cranston (Walter White), no other scene was quite as daunting as (SPOILER ALERT for anyone who, for reasons no human would understand, hasn't watched Breaking Bad) the death of Krysten Ritter's character, Jane Margolis:
"She’s got Jesse [Pinkman] on heroin," Cranston said of Walter’s thought process during a recent sit-down with James Lipton on Inside the Actors Studio. "She’ll kill him. It’s better if I don’t do anything. But she’s a little girl. She’s young enough to be my daughter." According to Cranston, this reality inspired an unexpected reaction: "And then I see the face of my own daughter in her place, and I didn’t want to. I didn’t plan on it."
This scene, of course, marks an important shift in not only the heart and mind of one Walter White, but also in his relationships with both Jesse Pinkman and the increasingly cruel world around him:
