Ben Affleck Says He Was ‘So Bad’ in an Early Film Role That His Dialogue Got Dubbed Over

If you're not well-versed in matters of Ben Affleck's filmography, then you may not spend large chunks of time pondering the fact that he was in Fran Rubel Kuzui and Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer way back in 1992.

Affleck is generously credited in the movie on IMDb as "Basketball Player #10," though the current The Way Back star revealed in a recent interview that his performance—which consisted of a single line—was not as good as he had convinced himself at the time.

"That movie, apparently I'm so bad in that movie . . . I had one line and it was 'Take it,' I think, and the guy I'm [playing is] holding a basketball and another basketball player turns into, like, a werewolf or whatever," Affleck recalled in a recent interview on the Jess Cagle Show. "I get scared, naturally, as you might if you saw a werewolf and you're playing basketball. I just give him the ball and I think I just say 'Take it, man.' And I thought it was fine and the director seemed happy."

Though Affleck's one-line appearance didn't bag him a Buffy premiere invitation, he did catch a showing on his own, only to notice that his voice had been removed from the scene and replaced with someone else's.

"I was like 'That is not my voice! That is not me!'" he said. "Apparently, the director hated my performance so much that she looped the entire performance, which is one line. So yes, I am dubbed, in English. Thank you for bringing that memory up."
