Though the clever practice of working What a Time to Be Alive references into non-musical news clips is admittedly growing quite stale very quickly, this one simply must be savored. After years of wild speculation surrounding its apparent inevitability, the frequency of presumably leaked information on Apple's very first electric car has started to increase so dramatically that it's almost impossible to keep up. However, the latest revelation is the biggest jolt to the hype machine in years: Apple has reportedly set a "target ship date" of 2019 for their inaugural electric vehicle, meaning it's quite a time to be alive indeed.

Citing people "familiar with the matter," the Wall Street Journal reports that Apple has now designated the electric car a "committed project" and is currently eyeing a 2019 unveiling:

Sadly, the first Apple car is no longer expected to be fully autonomous, though that is still a central goal for subsequent models of the currently nameless vehicle. With 2019 less than four years away, logic suggests we all start saving now lest we risk being stuck in a boring regular car for very much longer.
