Talk show host Whoopi Goldberg has admitted that while the idea of retirement sounds appealing, it's not financially feasible for her right now.

The 69-year-old comedian has been a staple on The View since 2007, but with her 70th birthday approaching in November, she says she’s not planning to step away any time soon.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, September 9, Goldberg was asked if she had thought about "slowing down," to which she responded, "Yeah, but who can afford to do that? You know if you don’t marry well, you gotta keep working.”

The interviewer then went on to suggest that perhaps the Oscar winner could afford to step away from her daytime talk show gig.

"No, not by now. Not yet,” Goldberg responded, later adding, "I gotta keep paying those bills, baby."

During the interview, Goldberg's cohost Joy Behar also gave her thoughts on whether or not retirement was in her future.

“Creative people don’t retire, they don’t resign, they just keep going,” said Behar, 82.

This most recent Entertainment Tonight interview isn't the first time that Goldberg has been candid about continuing to work out of financial necessity.

Last year, she stirred up some controversy after telling her cohosts, “I work for a living... If I had all the money in the world, I wouldn’t be here, OK? I’m a working person, you know?”

While her current salary on The View hasn’t been confirmed, Variety reported in 2016 that she signed a new contract worth between $5 million and $6 million.

Goldberg and Behar kicked off season 29 of The View on Monday, September 8, rejoining the panel with fellow cohosts Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin. New episodes air on weekdays at 11 a.m. on ABC.
