Pop icon Taylor Swift is fully embracing her role as a Kansas City Chiefs superfan. On Wednesday, August 13, during an episode of the New Heights podcast, Swift, 35, admitted that her understanding of football has grown significantly since she began dating tight end Travis Kelce.
When the podcast conversation turned to the sport, the "Fortnight" songstress revealed, "I fell in love with it. I became obsessed with it. I became like a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, 'We drafted Xavier Worthy!' And my friends are like, 'Who body snatched you? What do you mean we drafted Xavier Worthy?'"
Kelce then interrupted Swift, saying, "I forget where I was, but you were the first person to tell me that we drafted the fastest man in the draft." Swift then responded, "No, I was screeching. I couldn't believe it. Freaking out."
"I couldn't believe it either. I'm like, wait, is she right? I had to look this up. I'm like, did she get the wrong information here? But, yeah, we traded up," Kelce concluded, referring to Texas Longhorns wide receiver Xavier Worthy being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024.
“We’re diving into cover two, cover four, cover zero, man coverage — all of it. I’m still learning,” Swift said. “I’m not ready to be a football analyst just yet, but give me about 16 months.”
It’s not every day a rising NFL rookie like Worthy gets a name-drop from Swift, but draft day made it happen. Fans can catch the Kansas City Chiefs next game on Friday, August 15 as the team plays against the Seattle Seahawks. As for Swift, her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, is set to release on October 3, 2025.
