Actress Kate Beckinsale took to Instagram on Thursday, July 18, to share that her mother, Judy Loe, had passed away.
Beckinsale, 51, revealed that her mother died in her arms on Tuesday "after immeasurable suffering." Loe was 78.
"I am paralysed," Beckinsale wrote in her post, calling her mother, "the compass of my life, the love of my life, my dearest friend."
“She has been brave in so many ways, forgiving sometimes too much, believing in the ultimate good in people and the world is so dim without her that it is nearly impossible to bear. Mama, I love you so much,” she said.
Beckinsale reflected on the early loss of her father, British actor Richard Beckinsale. He died suddenly of a heart attack at just 31 years old, when she was only five.
“Mama, I love you so much. Losing you has been my greatest fear ever since I found my father when I was five, and now I’m living it,” she wrote. “Oh my Mama… I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I am so sorry.”
For the past two years, Loe—who was also an actress—had been battling stage four cancer.
Supportive words and condolences soon flooded the comments section of the post.
"Oh Kate, I am so deeply and profoundly sorry for your loss. Absolutely heartbroken for you. Sending you oceans and oceans of love," wrote poet Nikita Gill.
"It has been such a gift witnessing the incredible enormous love between you too. I hope you feel all the love and support you deserve during this immeasurable heartache. 🕊️🤍 I’m so very sorry," said another commenter, with someone else adding, "Oh my God, Kate. You’ve endured too much for anyone. Praying for you, sending you love and deepest condolences during this difficult time."
Last year, rumors surrounded the British actress regarding her drastic weight loss. “I’m just trying to survive,” she had said while opening up about the stress she was experiencing and hinting at her mother’s illness at the time.
