Former professional skateboarder and TV personality Bam Margera recently shared why he has no plans to return to his Jackass days.
In an interview with Cinemablend on Wednesday, July 23, Margera, 45, explained that he’s choosing to leave the franchise in the past.
“They have like new dudes, and what they did to me, making me go to treatment and paying for it, and then not putting me in a movie, and, you know, I had to go to court over it and I just, you couldn’t offer me enough money to want to do another Jackass with them,” Margera said. “The damage has been done.”
Margera’s relationship with the Jackass team deteriorated during the production of Jackass Forever, when he was removed from the film for violating a sobriety agreement tied to his contract.
Margera rose to fame in the early 2000s through MTV’s Jackass, where his skateboarding skills and wild pranks made him a standout. He later starred in his own spin-off, Viva La Bam. In his Cinemablend interview, the skateboarder also spoke out about whether or not he would ever give his spin-off a reboot.
"I just feel like that type of show has completely run its course. Living with my parents, and painting the whole kitchen blue, and having my mom freak out - to end something like that, and then your life moves on, you get your own house, with your own wife and you have a kid, it would be like…if we did a Viva la Bam [reboot], I would have to move back in with my parents and re-mess with 'em after giving them a 15-year break. It would just be weird," said Margera.
Even though Margera has moved on from the reality shows that gave him his big break, he hasn't forgotten his skateboarding roots. The stunt performer recently celebrated his inclusion in the new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game, which dropped earlier this month.
