Alyssa Milano is reflecting on the emotional weight of her decision to have her breast implants removed. On Wednesday, September 24, Milano posted a photo to Instagram showing herself in a hospital gown and surgical cap. In the caption, the 52-year-old actress, who rose to fame in the ’90s, expressed a sense of relief and anticipation about the procedure.

"Today I’m releasing those false narratives, the parts of me that were never actually parts of me. I’m letting go of the body that was sexualized, that was abused, that I believed was necessary for me to be attractive; to be loved; to be successful; to be happy," she wrote in the social media post.

The Charmed actress continued, "Today I am loved, I am feminine, I am attractive, and I am successful. None of that is because of my implants. I will still be all of those things when I wake up and they are gone. There is so much and joy in that knowledge and freedom in letting go of what was never me in the first place. Today, I’m my authentic self. Today, I’m free."

Milano's post was quick to receive support and love from fans and friends alike. "I’M THRILLED FOR YOU! The heal is real baby! See you on the lighter side," wrote RuPaul's Drag Race star Michelle Visage, whom Milano had thanked in her caption for being open about her relationship with her breast implants.

Nicole Scherzinger, lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, said, "Love you! Your liberation will inspire and liberate others!" while Playboy model Summer Altice added, "Just had my explant yesterday. I really needed to hear this. Thank you."

On Reddit, fans shared their stories and related to the Melrose Place star.

"Removing my breast implants was the best decision I ever made! I love seeing celebrities being vocal about it, as that’s what generates media attention that reaches the general public," said one commenter. Another Redditor chimed in with, "I love watching women take back their power."

With Milano's Instagram post gaining over 96,000 likes and counting, she joins a growing number of public figures choosing to reclaim their power and use their platforms to spark conversations around body image.
