Watch the Trailer for the Upcoming Carrie Fisher/Debbie Reynolds Documentary

Make sure to have a box of tissues nearby as you watch the trailer for HBO’s upcoming documentary about Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reyolds.

The recent deaths of Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds have devastated fans and friends worldwide. The situation was made even more heartbreaking by the fact that Reynolds died only one day after her daughter ("She left to be with Carrie," said Todd Fisher, in a sentence that quickly joined the famed it's-not-really-by-Hemingway short story in the list of most heartbreaking short statements of all time).

Now, HBO has just released the first trailer for their upcoming documentary about Reynolds and Fisher, titled Bright Lights: Starring Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher. You can watch it above. But if you do, make sure to have a box of tissues handy. The trailer shows that the mother and daughter lived next door to each other, and were extremely close. "I'm my mother's best friend," Fisher says at one point.

Bright Lights will premiere on January 8 on HBO. It was shown earlier this year at several film festivals, including Cannes and Telluride. HBO was originally supposed to show the film this coming March, but moved the date up after Fisher and Reynolds died. "We started out making a film about Hollywood royalty," directors Alexis Bloom and Fisher Stevens told People. "And we ended up making a film about love."
