Jonathan Majors and a co-star were victims of a movie stunt gone wrong, falling through a glass window and tumbling six feet down to the ground.
The accident, which reportedly took place last week, was first reported by Deadline, which also shared video, visible below. It occurred on the set of an as-yet-untitled action film put together by Bonfire Legend, a team-up between producer Dallas Sonnier and the Ben Shapiro-founded conservative publication The Daily Wire.
The main cause, Deadline reported, was that the window had been switched out with tempered glass for a later scene, and it was sitting unsecured in the window pane.
Per Deadline, the incident brought tensions on the set to a head. Several crew members walked off and a strike was called.
Majors did not respond to Deadline’s request for comment, but the outlet reported that the other actor in the scene, JC Kilcoyne, needed stitches “all over his hands” in the aftermath of the accident.
Kilcoyne’s rep said that he “is doing well and was taken care of immediately by production.”
The window accident was far from the only reported issue on set. Deadline cited several incidents of props falling onto the crew, including a tree branch. On top of that, the film’s special effects supervisor has a federal conviction for illegally possessing explosive materials on a movie set, and one location reportedly had black mold.
Sonnier responded to Deadline’s questions about the strike on Friday (April 3).
“The entire industry is in freefall due to strikes, and now that their members are out of work, they’re trying to sabotage the few people who are still producing,” he said. “We don’t negotiate with communists.”
Despite the strike, filming is reportedly continuing.
