Jon Favreau (and Everybody Else) Wants Beyoncé to Play Nala in 'The Lion King' Reboot

The studio and the director reportedly "will do whatever it takes" to make it happen.

On Thursday, Variety reported some news that is likely to make some heads explode, particularly among fans of Disney and/or Beyoncé. The outlet claims that "sources" tell them director Jon Favreau, who is helming the upcoming reboot of The Lion King, wants the Queen Bey to voice the role of Nala.

While nothing is final, and the pop icon has canceled other upcoming work due to her pregnancy, Variety says that "the studio and director will do whatever it takes to accommodate her schedule."

This version of The Lion King, even without Beyoncé, already has plenty of star power. Donald Glover and James Earl Jones have been announced as Simba and Mufasa, respectively.

If Bey joins the cast, it will be her first movie role since she voiced Queen Tara in the 2013 animated movie Epic.
