It's hard to imagine a better place for MTV to hold its Video Music Awards than Brooklyn's Barclays Center. Opening its doors last September, the venue has been under scrutiny for everything from Jay-Z's backing to its purposely rusty facade, but has since gone on to become the most profitable venue in the U.S. A phoenix from the flames, if we've ever seen one.

While Brooklyn itself seems an unlikely meeting ground for pop-oriented stars like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, the borough's diversity means no celebrities' agenda will go unfulfilled. For those celebs who might find themselves on unfamilar ground, we've whipped up an itinerary for a few of our favorite BK hoods. Because we wouldn't want Taylor Swift to write Brooklyn off like one of her discarded love interests.
