Assassin's Creed has officially secured its first official cast member in the form of Toby Wallace, the 30-year-old actor best known for his roles in Babyteeth, The Bikeriders, and the upcoming season of Euphoria.

According to Deadline, Wallace is the first actor labeled as a series regular within Netflix's Assassin's Creed TV series. Like the long-running Ubisoft game series it's based upon, the show will detail the centuries-long conflict between two rival factions: the Templars and the Assassins, each of whom are battling to control the fate of humanity as a whole.

Robert Patino and David Wiener will serve as the main showrunners for the Netflix series, joined by executive producers Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, Genevieve Jones, and Matt O'Toole.

Rather than a direct adaptation of the original Assassin's Creed games, the Netflix series is set to incorporate a new cast of characters within the larger AC universe. As of yet, there's no official word on what exactly the show's main storyline might be.

Assassin's Creed has long remained one of the most popular gaming franchises of the 21st century, selling over 230 million units across the globe. Unlike most overarching game series, Assassin's Creed is also known for utilizing a loosely-connected approach to its narrative universe, hopping from one historical era to the next with each new game.

Since its debut in 2007, the series has specifically managed to span the Medieval Crusades, the Italian Renaissance, the American Revolution, the Golden Age of Piracy, Victorian England, Ancient Egypt, and 16th century Japan, among other historical eras.

With the exception of a few select games, the series has continued to perform well from both a financial and critical standpoint, with its latest installment, Assassin's Creed Shadows, earning mostly positive reviews from fans and critics.
