Just when viewers thought Superman had his hands full dealing with Nicholas Hoult's dastardly tech billionaire Lex Luthor, it now seems like the Man of Steel will be facing his most dangerous threat yet.
According to TheWrap, DC's next major antagonist will be none other than the long-running cybernetic antagonist, Brainiac, who will officially enter into the DCU with Superman's new sequel, Man of Tomorrow.
A hyper-intelligent android from the planet Colu, Brainiac first appeared in the pages of Action Comics way back in July 1958. In the decades since, he's become one of the most endearing characters to ever come up against Superman, more than matching Lex Luthor, Darkseid and General Zod in terms of ruthlessness, intelligence, and god-like ambition.
Traveling the galaxy in the hopes of absorbing every bit of knowledge in the known universe, Brainiac has regularly found himself opposed by Superman, the Justice League, and other similarly opportunistic villains like Lex Luthor since his initial comic book appearance in the late '50s.
As per TheWrap, it seems that the character's appearance in Man of Tomorrow will force Superman (David Corenswet) and Luthor to put aside their differences and work together in order to protect Earth.
In the past, Brainiac has made several integral appearances in popular Superman-related media, including Smallville, Justice League Unlimited, and Superman: The Animated Series. His role in Man of Tomorrow will mark the first time he's ever been portrayed in a live-action film centered around the Man of Steel.
As of yet, there's no word as to which actor might portray the sinister android. But we do know that Man of Tomorrow is currently slated for a release date of July 9, 2027. It will mark the fourth overall entry in the DCU, following in the footsteps of 2025's Superman and 2026's Supergirl and Clayface.
