Recasting "Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3"

Now that we’ve seen the leak for the new characters in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, we’re officially excited: Ghost Rider, Dr. Strange, Strider, Phoenix Wright. Yes. Yes. Yes… And yes. ALL these characters should have been in the original MvC3 so it’s only right that they’re finally making an appearance.

But there are a few bums on the roster who never should have made the game. How they got in there, we have no idea. If we ran Capcom for a day, our first order of business would be to hang with the MvC3 developers and get rid of five scrubs to make room for five studs...

Seriously, how has the other Frank NOT been in any of these Vs. titles? One of the rumors is that he wasn’t put in the first MvC3 because the character is too violent. Come on! Chris Redfield fires a shotgun in Viewtiful Joe’s face in the original MvC3. You’re telling us that Frank Castle can’t deliver divine retribution without having to slit a throat? Marvel, that’s a cop out.

We have nothing against M.O.D.O.K. as a character. We dig him. He’s cool. But we don’t like the way he plays in MvC3. Online gamers may have found a way to abuse the shit out of him, but we still have a problem moving him around the screen. If a cool character has to go, it's him. Sorry, guy. Get back to us when your control game is tighter.

This one is for the fans. Zero is cool. We like him. He’s fast and aggressive. But where the hell is the blue bomber? He was one of our favorites in the last game. Besides, if Strider gets to make the jump from the other two titles, why not Mega Man? What's going on Capcom, are you TRYING to rile up the fans?

Fact. We love us some Devil May Cry. Dante and Trish were an awesome addition to the first game, and we still use them competitively to this day. They’re a great team. But do we REALLY need a third character from the series in this game? Yes, the DMC team is now complete, but Vergil feels like a sore addition. We could have done without him. Oh, and how much are you willing to bet there will be an alternate costume for the NEW Dante from DMC 5 in this game? Gag.

It seems like just about every Capcom character from every Capcom series has gotten love from the company except one—Power Stone. Why is that? We absolutely LOVE this free-for-all franchise and yet, not a single character has made it to the big dance. Come on, we saw Batsu from Rival Schools fame in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and Hayato from Star Gladiator in MvC2. You’re telling us we can’t get a little love from our OTHER favorite obscure Capcom fighter? Cry your pardon?

Wait. Let us speak. We love Hawkeye. We seriously do! But, first with Thor (who we also adore) and now with Hawkeye, it seems like Capcom is only adding Avengers who are appearing in the Avengers movies. And all we have to say is: what about Ant Man? Why hasn’t HE gotten his day yet? Do we want Hawkeye? Hell yes. Are we happy that he’s in this game? Hell yes again. But would we trade him for Ant Man as a full character rather than just a cheeky cameo if we had to choose? Hell yes a third time. Ant Man is awesome. It's unclear why Hollywood and Capcom don't agree.

Is anyone aware that there are no females in the new roster? Not a single one. It’s a total sausage fest. Picking a badass female character is tough but, ultimately, we're going with the Scarlet Witch. Magneto's daughter deserves her due.

You've seen this movie before. It's a French art film titled, We Have Enough Characters From That Franchise Already. With Chris, Jill and Albert all in the original, do we need a fourth character from the RE series? We know we’re going to tear some shit up with Nemesis when the game comes out. That's all good. But if it was our choice of another RE character, it would be Barry Burton. Think about the achievement on the 360 when he and Jill do a combo. "You’ve just unlocked the master of unlocking locks." Awesome. Sheer awesomeness.

Call us biased but, here at the office, we’re big Moon Knight fans. And as we hinted at before, if we had one D-List Marvel character that we would put into Ultimate MvC3, it would definitely be Marc Spector, the schizophrenic version of Batman. Just think of all the possibilities of him bashing foes in the face. Possible DLC, Capcom? Please? Oh, right, only two per game, right? Capcom…you’re such a tease.

You may be saying, what? What about Rocket Raccoon? Well, here’s the thing. Rocket Raccoon is definitely F-Level, bottom of the basement, and we appreciate that he’s in the game because it means that people will finally get to learn about him. But Nova is actually kind of known by comic book nerds and fans alike, so we’ll just call him D-Level Marvel. But when talking about D-Level Marvel, there are a whole BUNCH of different characters we think better fit Ultimate MvC3. With Nova being the one huge stand-out, D-level Marvel character in the game, it’s just another thorn in our side for our desire for Luke Cage, Namor or, yes, we'll say it again: Moon Knight.
