Sometimes celebrity hook-ups come out of left field. Remember the brief marriage of Drew Barrymore and Tom Green? What about Julia Roberts and Lyle Lovett? Hell, even Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck never quite seemed to fit. What can we say? Sometimes in Hollywood, opposites do attract, albeit temporarily.

When: November-present

When asked about her current relationship with famously negative X Factor creator and millionaire media mogul Simon Cowell, model Carmen Electra said, "'He's so cute. He's adorable. He's actually a sweetheart." Sweetheart? Simon Cowell? Now, that's shocking.

This past August, pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne announced her engagement to fellow Canadian rocker Chad Kroeger. Kroeger's band Nickelback, who despite massive commercial success, is often the butt of jokes, are decidedly less "punk rock" than Sum 41, the band which is headed up by Lavigne's ex-husband, Deryck Whibley.

Earlier this year two of hip hop's most influential families briefly came together. Romeo, No Limit Forever recording artist and the apple of Master P's eye, was momentarily romantically linked to one of the girls who grew up in Run's house, Angela Simmons. This hook-up was never confirmed, but was heavily speculated. After she split with her partner of six years, Mark Griffiths, Gillian began talking to the press about her bisexuality. While that information might lead one to believe that Gillian may have her sights set on a lady, many speculated that those comments were actually made to throw the media off the trail of whom she's really dating, her former X-Files co-star, David Duchovny. During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show this summer, Amy Schumer, one of the hottest stand-up comics in the world, revealed that after breaking up with former boyfriend and fellow comic Anthony Jeselnik, she briefly dated WWE's Dolph Ziggler. Amy, who's never shy when discussing the bedroom, described sex with the bleached-haired grappler as "too athletic."

Earlier this year, it was revealed that the tale of Chris Brown and Rihanna is set to have yet another chapter. After their tumultuous and highly publicized 2009 break-up, a split that's left Chris Brown largely vilified in the media ever since, the leader of Team Breezy and the Barbados beauty have indeed reconciled for round two of their controversial relationship, which the sexy songstress occasionally posts photos of on Twitter.

Five months after Ashton Kutcher and former wife Demi Moore ended their six-year marriage, rumors began swirling that he and former That 70s Show co-star Mila Kunis were now dating.
