After wearing a “Time’s Up” pin while accepting a Golden Globe for The Disaster Artist, actor and director James Franco got hit by allegations of exploitation and sexual misconduct by multiple women. One of the accusers is reportedly willing to extend the proverbial olive branch.
“I don’t hate James,” Sarah Tither-Kaplan told TMZ. “I still have love for him.”
Tither-Kaplan was one of the first women to call out the hypocrisy of Franco wearing a Time’s Up pin after his alleged history of mistreating women.
Tither-Kaplan said Franco exploited her by allegedly paying her $100 per day to appear nude in a project. Although a few argued that she willingly signed a contract to do so, Tither-Kaplan countered that this case was about an "abuse of power" that targetted a struggling actor. She further explained her issues to TMZ.
“Sarah says she doesn’t begrudge Franco’s success, and, in fact, says she would've been shocked if he didn't win—but adds he still needs to accept responsibility and apologize,” TMZ reported. “In fact, she believes he'll be totally forgiven if he does.”
Tither-Kaplan went on to say that she does believe Franco would be forgiven for an apology because of the "privilege of being young, white and pretty," as opposed to Harvey Weinstein.
Franco addressed the allegations during appearances on Late Night With Seth Meyers and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, telling Colbert, “The things that I heard on Twitter are not accurate.”
