The #SeeHer award looks to acknowledge women who "push boundaries on changing stereotypes and recognize the importance of accurately portraying women across the entertainment landscape." This year, Gal Gadot was appropriately given the honor at the 2018 Critics Choice Awards, and her acceptance speech was just as heartfelt and empowering as her portrayal of Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins presented Gadot with the award, noting that Gal didn't take the role for the money or the fame. "She did it for us," Jenkins said. "She knew the great importance of this character and what she could mean to the world if well done." You need only look to Wonder Woman's box office numbers, or to the number of little girls dressed as superheroes this year, to see that Jenkins' words ring true.

Gadot's speech highlighted the fact that Wonder Woman was intended to inspire everyone. "She's full of heart, strength, compassion, and forgiveness. She sees wrong that must be made right, she takes action when everyone around her is idle. She commands the attention of the world. In doing so, she sets a positive example for humanity," Gadot said of her breakout character." Watching Gadot deliver her speech, it was as if a real-life superhero was there, reassuring us the creative work we do matters, and that it always has the potential to make a positive change.
