MICHAEL, the forthcoming film from Lionsgate, offers a panoramic account of the life and legacy of one of the world's all-time most influential artists. That would be Michael Jackson, of course.
Hitting theaters on April 24, the movie will introduce new generations to the talents that made Michael Jackson one of the greatest entertainers ever to grace a stage. There’s plenty for longtime fans to enjoy in the film, too, giving them a chance to revisit the star’s defining moments. Michael Jackson’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, makes his acting debut in the film, portraying his uncle with an authentic, transformative performance that tracks MJ’s rise from child star with The Jackson 5 to worldwide icon.
To honor the film, Complex New York will host an immersive art gallery pop-up from 11 AM to 7 PM on April 3 and 4, and from 11 AM to 4 PM on April 5, at 620 Broadway. The space will feature photos, props, and costumes from the film.
For the MICHAEL movie pop-up at Complex NY, artist Dimithry Victor will create one custom piece that draws inspiration from some of MJ’s biggest hits, including “Billie Jean,” “Beat It,” “Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough,” and “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.” Fans and the curious alike will be immersed in Michael’s world, whetting their appetites for the film’s worldwide release on April 24.
