Gran Turismo 6 dropped this month, and we’re offically revved up to get back behind the wheel of our favorite fantasy game. That’s right—PlayStation’s signature racing series doesn’t have dragons and swords, but it’s a fantasy game nevertheless.
It just explores a different fantasy: the fantasy of owning and driving the rarest, fastest and most expensive cars in existence.
Most of us will never get our hands on any of the awesome rides in Gran Turismo, but then again most of us aren’t Justin Bieber or Jerry Seinfeld. You have to be a pretty big deal to have the scratch and connections to buy some of these automobiles, and GT’s realistic virtual courses are the only place for most people to do so.
So if Gran Turismo lets players live their ultimate car fantasies, why not do it in celebrities’ real-life cars? Some, like Jay Leno’s “Tank Car” and his 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado, are already featured in the series. GT6 has 1,200 cars to start with, but here are 10 more we'd like to see. DLC anyone?
10. Flo Rida’s pink Bugatti Veyron
Tramar upgraded his Bugatti Veyron from a chrome gold wrap to hot pink for breast cancer awareness month in October. We much prefer the new color; it takes balls to roll around in a souped-up Mary Kay car.
If they sold this special Bugatti as DLC they could even donate the money to research. It’s a win-win!
9. Jay Leno’s Jaguar CX75
Leno is known for his love of cars, and his massive collection of rare and expensive rides is truly mind-blowing. But one standout that we’ve yet to see in digital form is his 2010 Jaguar CX75.
With its Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) it can hit 100mph in six seconds. Only a couple of these were ever made, and Leno gets to cruise around in one of them whenever he wants. It’s about time for GT players to try one out on the virtual track.
8. Eric Clapton’s SP12 EC
Ferrari built this 458 Italia exclusively for the famous guitarist (the “SP” standards for Special Program). It packs the same 4.5 liter V8 found in other 458 Italias, but this special version features other elements from Clapton’s previous favorite Ferrari, the 512 BB.
This ride being a one-off means there’s zero chance of anyone ever getting their hands on it. That also makes it perfect for inclusion in GT6.
7. Jerry Seinfeld’s Porsche 959
If there’s one celebrity whose car collection might rival Jay Leno's, it’s Jerry Seinfeld. The dude has his own super secret subterranean compound in which he houses his collection of dozens of Porsches. And one of those Porsches is an ultra rare 959.
When it was produced between 1986 and 1989 it was hailed as the most technologically advanced road-ready sports car ever created. Jerry probably barely uses his, so why not let Gran Turismo players take it for a spin?
6. Jay Z’s Maybach Exelero
Watch Jay Z’s video for “Lost One” to catch a glimpse of the exceptionally rare (think one-in-existence rare) Maybach Exelero, and then shed some tears for the fact that that’s the only glimpse you’re likely to get.
The $8 million car is the most expensive vehicle ever produced by the ultra high-end luxury division of Mercedes-Benz. It’s a modern interpretation of MB’s legendary 1930s sports cars. Too bad Shawn is the only one who gets to drive it (if he even dares to take it out of the garage).
5. Reggie Bush’s 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 Fastback
Gran Turismo 6 features a half dozen or so Mustangs already, but none of them match the 1967 Shelby GT 500 owned by NFL running back Reggie Bush.
Bush put the car up for sale over the summer, and the listing notes affectionately that it’s known in the car world as Eleanor. If that’s not classy we don’t know what is.
4. Rob Dyrdek’s 1969 LS1 Pro-Touring Camaro
Dyrdek has a lot of fun with his rides, and we know Gran Turismo players would too if they were ever included in GT6. But there are none we’d like to get behind the wheel of more than Rob’s 1969 LS1 Pro-Touring Camaro.
This baby was customized by All Speed Customs in Michigan, but Dyrdek put it up for sale in August. Guess he got sick of all the awesome? We’d love to take it off his hands, but even in the best case scenario we’ll only be playing with a virtual version.
3. Eric Bana’s 1974 Ford GT Falcon Coupe
Bana’s Falcon is legendary. The actor made an entire film based on his obsessed with this ride, which he calls “The Beast.” The movie’s called Love the Beast, and it’s a fantastic testament to one how much a guy can truly love a car.
But isn’t it a bit selfish for Bana to keep it all to himself? A recreation in Gran Turismo 6 could be just the thing to spread Bana’s love for The Beast around to all its adoring fans.
2. Chris Evans’ 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder
UK radio personality Chris Evans owns this 1961 Ferrari Spyder, one of the most expensive cars ever auctioned. He bought it in 2008 for $10.9 million at an Italian auction, and we presume he hasn’t left the driver’s seat since.
It’s at the top of every Ferrari lover’s list. And while most don’t have $11 million lying around to buy one with, surely every GT6 fan could potentially spare a few bucks for DLC.
1. Justin Bieber’s Fisker Karma
The Fisker Karma is already included in Gran Turismo 6’s official roster of vehicles, but we’d still like to see an exact recreation of the Biebster’s real-life Karma. The ultimate Belieber received the $100K electric car for his 18th birthday, but it wasn’t long before his buddy Lil’ Twist crashed it into a concrete post or two in a liquor store parking lot.
So not only would Bieber’s Fisker feature a shiny chrome wrap; it would also need a big old dent in the fender. Perfect!
