Let's try a little optimism on for size. Imagine that you're hitched, right, and, as far as you can tell, the marriage is going well and wifey is never less than satisfied. Sounds ideal, right? Now, here comes the megaton bomb: while you're hard at work, she's banging the young landscaper, and then the dude who works at the laundromat, and possibly your best friend whenever she can find the time. Not so great anymore, huh? Well, buck up, partner, because what we've neglected to mention is that the old ball-and-chain just happens to look like a lovely movie star, so all's not lost, right? Kevin James' character in the new romantic comedy The Dilemma should adopt such an outlook; the film centers around his best friend, played by Vince Vaughn, who catches James' wife, a finely-aged Winona Ryder, cheating with a much younger guy (Channing Tatum). Ryder is attractive, but many way sexier heartbreakers have come before her. Grab a hanky, softies, and soften the blow of domestic obliteration with the 10 Hottest Cheating Movie Wives. Whether you use said hanky to wipe tears away or to clean up some other bodily mess is your own prerogative.

Ashley Judd

#10: ASHLEY JUDD AS CHARLENE SHIHERLIS IN HEAT (1995)

Michael Mann’s widely adored Heat really does have it all: a great cast, dynamic performances, kinetic action, and, last but not least, a gorgeous homewrecker. The last component is Ashley Judd, sporting blonde-dyed hair and vamping it up as Val Kilmer’s adulterous wife. With so many bodies dropping and guns busting, it’s nice to think about something other than bullet-ridden corpses every time Judd appears on screen. Though, the word “busting” still applies.

Sharon Stone

#9: SHARON STONE AS GINGER MCKENNA IN CASINO (1995)

Some women are so damn attractive that overlooking their many faults is simple. Well, to a point. In Martin Scorsese’s superlative Casino, Sharon Stone plays one of the most aggravating gold-diggers in cinematic history, but man she’s one fine piece of annoyance. Additional points are deducted from Stone’s tally for cheating on a don like Robert De Niro with little man Joe Pesci, yet, again, she turns loathsome actions into aphrodisiacs.

Nicole Kidman

#8: NICOLE KIDMAN AS SUZANNE STONE MARETTO IN TO DIE FOR (1995)

In the twisted dark comedy To Die For, Nicole Kidman’s sexiness reached its apex. She’s still cute and all, but her turn as ambitious weather girl Suzanne Stone is the elegant Australian at her finest. Parading around in purple lingerie and skintight leopard-print dresses, she uses her sexual muscle on a high school student (Joaquin Phoenix) and has him kill her husband (Matt Dillon). She's conniving, quick to disrobe, and willing to help teenagers overachieve. Does Kidman’s Stone sound like a good time or what?

Cate Blanchett

#7: CATE BLANCHETT AS SHEBA HART IN NOTES ON A SCANDAL (2006)

First off, let’s acknowledge that name, Sheba Hart: sounds like a Blaxploitation-loving private dancer, no? On the contrary, Cate Blanchett’s radiant Sheba is actually a married school teacher who falls in love with a 15-year-old student, much to the chagrin of one of her elder colleagues (Judi Dench). Let’s have a round of applause for the kid, though; pulling a statuesque beauty of Blanchett’s caliber is something to brag endlessly about in the cafeteria. Unfortunately, all of our high school teachers looked more like Judi Dench. Sorry, Dame!

Jessica Lange

#6: JESSICA LANGE AS CORA PAPADAKIS IN THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE (1981)

It’s the archetypal noir set-up: Cora (a young and ultra-sexy Jessica Lange) seduces a drifter (Jack Nicholson) and convinces him to murder her boring husband. The plan doesn’t run all that smoothly, and, like most noir fellas, Nicholson’s character goes through the legal and emotional ringers. Looking into Lange’s come-get-some eyes and cleavage-baring tops, it’s easy to see why he’d want to draw blood just to get the nookie. Put it this way: if a 32-year-old Jessica Lange asked us for a favor, we’d oblige quicker than an on-the-clock butler.

Maria Bello

#5: MARIA BELLO AS AMY RAINEY IN SECRET WINDOW (2004)

After walking in on his smokin’ hot wife (Maria Bello) while she’s freaking some lucky dude, an author (Johnny Depp) enters cuckoo land. We feel his pain. Landing a runway model of a wife like Bello can’t be easy, so watching her give up the goods to another man must be the ultimate kick to the balls. Not that we’d begin imagining creepy farmers who look like John Turturro, or commit murder. For us, the post-discovery process would consist of a few hard nights inside the local tavern, preceding trips to Pleasure Plus Video. Everyone’s healing process is different, though.

Marley Shelton

#4: MARLEY SHELTON AS DR. DAKOTA BLOCK IN PLANET TERROR (2007)

Pop quiz: After learning that your wife, Marley Shelton, has been concealing a lesbian love affair with Fergie, do you, A) request a divorce, B) try to kill her, or C) demand a threesome? If you chose answer C, congratulations: you’ve logged on to the right website! Josh Brolin’s surly doctor in Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse entry Planet Terror is definitely not Complex material; he opts for letter B, completely ignoring the glorious opportunity before him. A Shelton/Fergie sandwich? Shit, we’ve got the pickle right here!

Monica Bellucci

#3: MONICA BELLUCCI AS MALENA SCORDIA IN MALENA (2000)

Cheating? Please, Monica Bellucci could ransack our savings accounts and we’d still be smitten. A perpetual list-topper when it comes to hottest chicks in the game, the Italian stunner revved up the scandal in 2000’s Malena. She plays a married woman who becomes a prostitute to earn cash after her soldier husband is falsely reported dead. Though she’s smacking backs under the pretense that her hubbie is deceased, it’s technically still infidelity. Besides, it’s not like Malena only makes love to one dude; she becomes a favorite “purchase” amongst German soldiers. There are worse ways to spend money, that’s for sure.

Demi Moore

#2: DEMI MOORE AS DIANA MURPHY IN INDECENT PROPOSAL (1993)

Demi Moore is such a problem in the sordid Indecent Proposal that a good-looking, surely able-to-get-laid-for-free billionaire (Robert Redford) voluntarily coughs up a million bucks just to sleep with her. Tell us that’s not justification enough for her ranking so high on this list. While we’re waiting for absent-minded naysayers to speak, feel free to ogle Moore’s bank-breaking looks. That’s right, one million dollars! Nine out of ten guys couldn’t even afford to go half on her left breast, let alone the whole package. Life just isn’t fair.

Diane Lane

#1: DIANE LANE AS CONNIE SUMNER IN UNFAITHFUL (2002)

This may disrupt some kind of guy code, but screw it: Richard Gere’s character deserved to get cheated on in director Adrian Lyne’s almost-Skinamax drama Unfaithful. Why, you ask? Because he’s married to a knockout like Diane Lane and he can’t find the time to satisfy her. Give any other man the chance to call Lane wifey and H-Town’s classic “Knockin’ Boots” would stay on repeat in the bedroom. Lane is the perfect wife: she’s what every guy hopes his wife will look like in her mid-40s, and, as seen in Unfaithful’s steamy sex scenes, she even knows how to put it down. To remix Beyonce, "You better put your thing on it."
