Vin Diesel is teasing a major crossover between Hollywood and global sports as the Fast & Furious franchise heads toward its final chapter.

According to the actor, soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will appear in Fast X: Part 2, with Diesel revealing that the production specifically created a role for the legendary forward. Diesel sparked excitement among fans after sharing a photo of himself alongside Ronaldo on Instagram, hinting strongly at the athlete’s involvement in the upcoming film.

In the caption, Diesel suggested that questions about Ronaldo joining the Fast & Furious universe were already being answered behind the scenes, adding that the team “wrote a role for him” while praising the football icon as “a real one.”

While Ronaldo has not publicly confirmed his participation, Diesel’s comments all but signal that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will make an on-screen appearance when the film hits theaters. Fast X: Part 2 is currently slated for release in April 2027 and is expected to serve as the eleventh, and final, installment in the long-running action franchise.

Diesel will return as Dominic “Dom” Toretto, joined by several familiar faces. The cast is set to include Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs, Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw, Jason Momoa as villain Dante Reyes, Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto, and Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz.

Diesel has also previously confirmed that the character of Brian O’Connor, originally portrayed by the late Paul Walker, will make a return in some form, a reveal he shared during an appearance at FuelFest earlier this year. The film will once again be directed by Louis Leterrier, who helmed Fast X, with Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel handling the screenplay.

Behind the scenes, the production is moving forward under increased financial scrutiny. Earlier reports indicated that Universal Pictures tightened the budget for the sequel after Fast X became one of the franchise’s most expensive entries, carrying a reported $340 million price tag.

Despite grossing more than $700 million worldwide, Fast X struggled with profitability due to its massive costs, especially when compared to F9, which earned over $725 million globally on a significantly smaller budget.

Even so, the franchise continues to lean into spectacle and star power, and the addition of Cristiano Ronaldo could be one of its boldest moves yet as it races toward the finish line.
