Timothée Chalamet decided to surprise fans by attending a contest where people who looked like him competed for a cash prize in New York City.

On Sunday, a crowd of people congregated in Washington Square Park around 1 p.m. for a Timothee Chalamet look-alike competition, and participating doppelgangers would have the chance to win $50. People who looked like the actor even dressed up in some of his roles, such as Willy Wonka and Bob Dylan. According to the official event invitation, almost 900 people locked in their RSVP.

During the event, the actor himself randomly showed up in a dad hat and face mask while people were paying attention to the competition. At one point, Chalamet walked through the crowd and embraced one of his look-alikes, which caused fans to go into a frenzy. The cash prize went to someone who wore a purple Willy Wonka cape.

The event seemed to go off without a hitch until a few people on the ground reported that police were arresting someone in the crowd. A spokesperson for the NYPD told NBC New York that police issued several summonses.

Chalamet is currently producing and starring in Marty Supreme, a biopic about table tennis champion Marty Reisman. Gwyneth Paltrow and Tyler, the Creator will star in the film alongside Chalamet.
