Mark Zuckerberg Says Elon Musk Isn't Serious About Fight: 'Time to Move On'

Zuckerberg claimed he's moving on to fight with people who actually take the sport seriously.

Mark Zuckerberg has claimed Elon Musk isn't taking this potential fight seriously and that it's time to move on from the fiasco.

On Sunday, the 39-year-old took to his Threads account to announce he won't be fighting Elon Musk in a mixed martial arts bout. According to the Facebook CEO, he put his best foot forward and offered a date for the fight, but Musk's excuses have become too much, so he's moving on to people who are genuinely interested in fighting.

"I think we can all agree Elon isn't serious and it's time to move on," Zuckerberg wrote. "I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won't confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead."

He continued, "If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I'm going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously."

Zuckerberg's announcement comes after the Tesla CEO confirmed the fight would take place in Rome, but he needed minor surgery to fix an issue with his shoulder blade before that could happen.

"The fight will be managed by my and Zuck's foundations (not UFC)," Musk wrote on X, which will likely forever be colloquially known as Twitter despite the rebrand. "Livestream will be on this platform and Meta. Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all. I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture. They have agreed on an epic location."

He added, "Bottom line is that my C5/C6 fusion is solid, so not an issue. However, there is a problem with my right shoulder blade rubbing against my ribs, which requires minor surgery. Recovery will only take a few months."

Despite the setback, Elon Musk has been training for the fight by "lifting hard" and bragging about doing a clean 155-pound overhead press workout. Zuckerberg, on the other hand, shared footage of himself training with various UFC champions.
