Chris Brown is pushing back against a custody request filed by the mother of his youngest daughter, Lovely Symphani Brown.
According to new court filings, the Grammy-winning singer is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the 4-year-old after Diamond Brown recently asked a Los Angeles court to grant her sole custody.
Diamond's filing reportedly requested both legal and physical custody of Lovely while proposing that Brown receive visitation rights rather than shared custody.
The "Loyal" singer, however, is asking the court for an arrangement that would give both parents equal legal rights and parenting responsibilities involving their daughter.
Chris is also requesting that each party be responsible for their own legal expenses related to the custody dispute. Diamond previously asked the court to order Chris to cover the costs associated with the case.
The legal battle follows months of public tension between the former couple. Earlier this year, Diamond took aim at Chris on social media, accusing him of attempting to interfere with her new relationship.
The singer did not publicly address the allegation, but the situation quickly spilled into the public eye after his current girlfriend, Jada Wallace, became involved.
Wallace accused Diamond of preventing Chris from spending time with Lovely, adding another layer to the increasingly public dispute. The back-and-forth continued after Diamond appeared to suggest she was willing to confront Wallace directly, escalating tensions between the two women.
The custody proceedings arrive during a busy period in Chris Brown’s personal life. In late April, he and Wallace welcomed a baby boy, expanding the singer’s growing family.
Chris is already the father of several children. He shares 12-year-old daughter, Royalty Brown, with former partner Nia Guzman. He is also the father of Aeko Catori Brown, whom he welcomed with model Ammika Harris in 2019. Lovely, who was born in 2022, is Brown’s third child.
