J.Lo Reveals How She Dealt With a Director Telling Her to Get Topless

Jennifer Lopez's cover story in the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar reveals the singer's experiences with sexual harassment, telling the publication she flat-out said no when one director asked her to bare it all. While J.Lo doesn’t name names, she talked about a #MeToo moment with a director who wanted her to take her shirt off and expose her breasts—something she vehemently did not want to do.

“I haven’t been abused in the way some women have,” Lopez said in the piece. “But have I been told by a director to take off my shirt and show my boobs? Yes, I have. But did I do it? No, I did not.” The Shades of Blue star continued by saying that when she did finally speak up for herself, she was "terrified."

"I remember my heart beating out of my chest, thinking, ‘What did I do? This man is hiring me! It was one of my first movies. But in my mind, I knew the behavior wasn’t right. It could have gone either way for me. But I think ultimately the Bronx in me was like, ‘Nah, we’re not having it.’”

In 2015, Lopez starred in The Boy Next Door with Ryan Guzman and was nearly completely nude in one scene because "stands-in just wouldn't work," according to E! Online. Lopez told the publication: "It was intense. Those scenes are embarrassing. They are uncomfortable, but your job as an actress or an actor is to make it believable and this movie in particular…hinges on if that was believable, that it was, enough to make this guy go insane."

As Lopez herself once sang, "all that matters is that you treat me right" and that is the damn truth.
