A 'Love Island USA' Alum Says He May Not Be Allowed to Reveal This Villa Detail

The Season 7 breakout had no trouble spilling other villa secrets, just not this one.

If you've spent any part of the last few weeks yelling at your TV while a beautiful stranger in Fiji makes a questionable decision, you're not alone. Love Island USA is once again the show of the summer, with Season 8 pulling 2.3 billion viewing minutes in its first two weeks — up 50 percent from last year's record-breaking run. But for all the hours fans pour into the villa, plenty about how the show actually works stays locked behind the scenes.

That came into focus during the June 19 episode of The Pre-Game, when Season 7 breakout Jeremiah Brown got tripped up by a surprisingly simple question. "When you're sitting in the confessional rooms, is it just you or is there a person across from you?" host Kayla Nicole asked. "Or are you just talking to, like, a god mic?"

Brown suddenly got careful. "I don't know if I can even answer that," he laughed. "I'm trying to remember what the contract says." Doubling down, the reality TV star added, “I don’t know if I can answer that… I honestly don’t know if I can answer that.”

Here's the funny part. The thing Brown was so careful not to confirm has been an open secret for years.

Back in 2022, Season 1 Islander Alexandra Stewart spilled the basics in a couple of TikToks. "It's literally just a camera and a producer's voice is coming out of the camera asking you questions," she said. "So you're just sitting there, staring at a weird camera."

Producers have backed that up, too. Mo, a Beach Hut producer on the UK version, once described sitting in a separate gallery with his own "voice box," tossing out prompts like "how's it going today?" while Islanders talked to the lens without ever seeing him.

While the confessional setup remained off limits, Brown was happy to share a few other details about life inside the villa. Contrary to popular belief, he said Islanders aren't getting buzzed. "No, we can't get drunk," he said. "We drink, but we don't get drunk."

Brown explained the cast is "100 percent sober" during every challenge. He wasn't around for some of the show's more “interesting” ones, joking that he "got kicked out" before those happened. But he did survive a few “disgusting” games.

"We spit milk into each other's mouths,” he recalled. “We're dead sober. It's like, bro, we're waking up at like 7 a.m. to go do those."
